Pyrmont was initially an industrial waterfront. There were shipbuilding yards, wool stores and factories. Industries got shifted from this place and there was movement of people from this place. Recently it has become busier with many residential complexes getting built.
Previously there was a sandstone quarry and a huge power station and there were many Chinese residents staying here. Museums, children’s parks, Old Victorian type pubs and beautiful mansions now adorn this place.

Fig Lane Park
It occupies a corner place between Jones and Fig Streets. There are many picnic tables with barbecue facilities, beautiful foundations and a children’s playground as well.
James Watkinson Reserve
It overlooks the Darling Harbor and it gives you eye catching and soothing views of the Sydney Harbour.
Union Square
Previously this was a meeting place and locals used to meet here for celebrating community events and festivals.
Wentworth Park
This is adjacently located near the Fish Market of Sydney. It is spread out on 12 hectares of land. It has lush sporting fields and ideal for sports activities like Rugby and Soccer.
Pyrmont Point Park
This splendid foreshore park is the perfect location for a weekend getaways or a picnic. It also has barbecue facilities and people love this place because of the waterfront promenade.
Cycling
There are more than 400 cycle parking rings. There is also a U-rail parking at Union Square and Macarthur Square.
Swimming Pools
The Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 0600 hrs to 2100 hrs. It is also open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays as well as public holidays from 0600 hrs to 2000 hrs. Public holidays the Aquatic centre remains closed.
Entertainment
Places of entertainment include galleries and museums. Some of the museums are the Australian Maritime Museum, Star City Casino. The UTS Gallery is also a very prominent gallery.
Theatres & Performance Venues
There are some very good theatres like the Eugene Goossens Hall. Star City also has the Lyric Theatre which is really good.
Shopping
Harris Street has some very good shopping places. There are stores which have goods of everyday use. There are eateries, cafes, patisseries. The Broadway Shopping centre is close to Harris Street.
The Fish market of Sydney has some very delicious seafood. There are shops selling liquor, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and delicious patisserie items.
Dining
There are very good restaurants and eateries. There are more than 30 hotels and cafes. This place also boasts of many pubs since the night life is exciting. There are waterfront restaurants which has delicious cuisines like the French, Japanese and Italian. Star City also has some fine Chinese restaurants. You also get to eat fish and chips at Sydney Fish Market. Chilli crab and sushi are the delights here.
